This Spring Europe have three must see exhibitions showcasing the art and craftmanship of Fashion. In Paris you can follow Ms. Jeanne Lanvin from the opening of the first store in 16 rue Boissy d’Anglas in 1889. The development of the famous blue inspired by the frescoes by Fra Angelico and stil the signature color of the house. Visit Paris and see the show at Musée de la Mode at the Palais Galliera unto 23. August.
If you didn’t drop by Paris last Spring at the Les Arts Décoratifs and saw Inspirations by Dries van Notén it is a must to visit Antwerp’s MoMu see how an unique brand has created a DNA timeless bohimian but with a present in time. Set up in a story of how inspiration can work. I saw it last year and was inspired.
And the clue must be the long awaited Savage Beauty at the V&A in London. Finally the Londoners get to see the amazing gift of talent and craftsmanship their own son Mr. Lee Alexander McQueen had. The New Yorkers had the privilege four years ago at the Met only a year after Mr. McQueens tragic dead. I have to confess that before visiting the exhibition in New York I had not totally understood the DNA and genius Mr. McQueen but after walking halls of the show I was in profound admiration of the man. Visit the show before 2. August and book a time slot.
