This balletseason at the Danish Royal Theater starts with a visit by the Hamburg Ballet and the Death in Venice by Artistic Director Mr. John Neumeier. I went this Friday for the last performance of the visit and it was a amazing to see the company again, it is truly a great set of dancers very diverse in age and expression. The story is slightly changed as Gustav von Aschenbach is not a author like in the short story by Mr. Thomas Mann from 1912 nor a composer like in the famous movie from 1971 by Mr. Luchino Visconti, but a famous choreographer struggling with his next ballet about Frederick the Great, running away to Venice staying at the amazing Hôtel des Bain on the Lido, while most guest are fleeing Venice because of an outbreak of cholera he gets obsessed with Tadzio a young boy on the border to manhood and at the end dies.

It was truly great to see Mr. Riggins back on the stage on Kongens Nytorv an amazing to se a dancer of 44 take on such a physical performance. I most go to Hamburg and se more of the Hamhurg Ballet, Mr. Neumeier is a very poetic storyteller.
If love the movie and was so lucky to stay one summer at the Hôtel des Bains it is now changed into luxury apartments and villas.
