This Monday evening was the clue of the fashion party season with the annual Met Gala official setting of The Costume Institute exhibition China: Thourgh the Looking Glass looking at the influents of Chinese craftsmanship and aesthetics on Western fashion. The exhibitions and Gala have been held since the early 70’s and have been hosted by Vogue ever since. The dresscode of the Gala follows the scheme of the exhibition and this year was a challenge for many of the guests how do you elegant and glamours in a Chinese way with out looking like you emptied a Chinese grocery store, how do you transform the pure aesthetics and craftsmanship of the far east – some may have had a benefit of a visit to the exhibition before working out their look for the evening. Some guest also chose the arrive as a sexy bombshell without anything or very little left to the imagination. Where is the Hollywood glamour, understated sensuality and cool elegance it was not easy to find but here are some of my favourite looks.
Ladies in red a very elegant way to wear the scheme of the evening.
