Yesterday I spend time with two of my favorite Danish actresses Ms. Dollerup and Ms. Hillingsø. Ms. Dollerup and I toke the train to visit the theater in the Odense the main City of Fyn the island in the center of Denmark, to see Ms. Hillingsø join the amazing ensemble at the theater to play the double role of Hippolyta/Titania in Mr. William Shakespeare A Midsummer’s Dream staged by Ms. Alexa Ther in the set and costume design by Mr. Carsten Burke Kristensen.
I have often seen Mr. Shakespeare’s stories of love and its trifles in a more light and lyric romantic interpretation, I Ms. Ther’s vision the contrasts are bigger and the craftsmen play more tragic comic then pure fun. The set is raw and bring you to the cool world of what can be a factory and the woods its garden. Mr. Burke Kristensen detail of using the backdrop in a small version for Pyramus and Thisbe to whisper through was great bringer the stories together. The customs for the two young couples was for me a little weak and pale, not telling their story, as many of the other customs.
