Ilama a tasty part of South America in the very center of Copenhagen next to Kongens Nytorv in Lille Kongens Gade 14. A great start to a sunny weekend Friday evening,  was an invitation with the wonderful Ms. Mondrup to celebrate the new job of Mr. Sørensen,  he is a good friend and one of Copenhagen’s best dressed auditors, with us was also Mr. Nielsen his roommate a extraordinary music expert and his lovely law student girlfriend Ms. Fisch. Ilama – Restaurante Sudamericano is part of the Copenhagen food empire CofocoCopenhagen Food Consulting” started in 2000 by Mr. Torben Klitbo and a 150 3 courts New Year Menus to go at only 200.- Danish Kroner and now 2014 with ten restaurants, take away stores, catering and a magazine. They open a restaurant design by Mr. Jonas Hartz, Mr. Jakob Lange and Mr. Bjarke Ingels from BIG and Mr. Lars Larsen from Kilo with its Latino color scheme and fantastic patterned tiles against the Nordic interior, you get an intense feeling with a full crowd and the Latin music coming from the DJ of the night you nearly fell like you are in South America capital.

After some tough reviews from the Danish food critics it seem like that the kitchen with Chefs Mr. Carsten Sand and Mr. Peter Yung Jacobsen cleared up their stoves and presents an menu with inspiration from the street kitchens of Lima, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Mexico with a mix Nordic roots and commodities – spicy and tasty.

We had:

Pink Bulle, Hervé Villemade, Loire pink bubbles to celebrate with snacks corn in salt and dried banana chips with salsa

Starters / Walleye ceviche with guacamole, cucumber and cilantro / Beef tartar with tomato, pimento and black olive cream / Avocado with potato purée, parsley and Brazil nut

Main courses / Lamb breast with poblano chili, dried tuna and soy / Lobster with tomato salsa, lemon and macadamia nuts

With both starters and main courses we had 2012 Chablis, L. Jadot, Bourgogne

Desserts / Chocolate cake and cream, cocoa sorbet and chili / Milk ice cream with caramel, browned butter cake and burned caramel / Key lime pie with pear, white chocolate and mint dust

To finish the great menu and the evening we had two pitchers of Dark ´n Stormy Bermuda’s national drink with Gosling rum, ginger beer and fresh lime.

A amazing menu, with cool and knowledgeable service, entertaining company and with the great crowed Friday evening the only thing I missed was maybe some air-condition.
